Storms occur with sometimes, little to no warning, in which case can make it difficult to plan how to prepare. Recently, more than 7 trillion gallons of rain fell over the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas of Louisiana over an 8 day period. This flooding affected more than 40,000 homes, leaving over 30,000 people homeless.
